How to Get Ancient Bone in Palworld 1.0

Updated: 2026-07-19Game version: Palworld 1.0

To get Ancient Bone in Palworld 1.0, travel to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 northeast of the Dessicated Desert and mine the large fossil or ribcage resource nodes with a pickaxe. Bring flying or water-capable transport, enough carrying capacity, and equipment for a high-level restricted area. Watch the sanctuary’s patrol spotlights while gathering.

Where the nodes are

Current 1.0 reporting places the mineable bone nodes on Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3, the offshore sanctuary northeast of the Dessicated Desert. The deposits look like large skeletal remains rather than normal ore. Once you know the silhouette, make a short circuit around the island and return after resources respawn.

The sanctuary is not a beginner resource field. Enemies and law-enforcement pressure can turn a simple mining run into a loss of time or carried materials. Unlock the closest practical travel point on the mainland, approach with a mount that can cross water, and avoid arriving with a full inventory.

What to bring

  • A repaired pickaxe appropriate to your progression.
  • A flying or water-capable mount for the offshore crossing.
  • Heat protection suitable for the surrounding desert route.
  • Spare carrying capacity or weight-supporting Pals.
  • Combat supplies appropriate to the sanctuary’s level.

The pickaxe is the key gathering tool. Do not assume an axe or an ordinary logging Pal will work on a fossil node. If mining feels unexpectedly slow, check tool durability before assuming the node has changed.

A repeatable collection loop

Approach the sanctuary, land away from immediate threats, and scan for ribcage-shaped deposits. Mine the closest cluster first, then move around the perimeter while watching patrol spotlights. Leave before your movement is heavily slowed by weight. Deposit the material at base, then revisit after the resource cycle resets.

This guide avoids an exact yield or respawn-time promise because those values are especially sensitive to server settings and updates. Use your first circuit as a measurement: record how many nodes you find, how much capacity you need, and whether your tool survives the full route.

Safety and access

Wildlife Sanctuaries are restricted areas. Being detected can trigger a wanted response. Keep moving, avoid lingering under spotlights, and do not let a resource run become a prolonged fight. Multiplayer server rules and difficulty settings can also change the practical risk.

If you only need a small amount, one careful circuit is more efficient than optimizing a permanent route. If Ancient Bone becomes a recurring bottleneck, improve transport and capacity before chasing marginal gathering speed.

After the run, use the direct breeding calculator for one-generation parent pairs, or continue with How to Get Cryogenic Coolant for a crafted 1.0 material.

The location, fossil-node method, and sanctuary route were cross-checked against PC Gamer’s Ancient Bone guide and PCGamesN’s Ancient Bone guide. Both current guides describe mining fossil/ribcage deposits at Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3. Exact yields and timings remain version- and server-sensitive. Game version: Palworld 1.0.
